Hello!
I am Giovanni Cresseri, a double bass and bass teacher with more than 15 years of experience. I am passionate about music and education, and I strive to provide the highest level of instruction. I am grateful to have won awards for my musical performances, and I hold a Masters in Jazz from the esteemed Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
As a performer, I have the privilege of working regularly with some of the most talented up-and-coming jazz artists in London, including Bea Asurmendi, Tereza Catarov, and Francesca Confortini, and during my career I had the honour of sharing the stage with masters of like Gianluca Corona (Al Di Meola), Roberto Manzin, Cheryl Porter and many more.
I believe that my love for music and knowledge of the bass make for a great learning experience for my students. My teaching philosophy focuses on tailoring instruction to meet the individual needs and aspirations of each student. I believe that no two students are exactly alike, and that each one brings unique talents, interests, and challenges to the table.

Electric Bass Technique
A deep dive into how to make the bass guitar become an extension of you. Learn all the secrets to achieve freedom to express yourself on your instrument.
Music Theory
We´ll learn the rules that make music sound the way it does, and, more importantly, we´ll learn how and when to break free from these rules.
Double Bass Technique
With its physicality, size and lack of visual aids, the upright bass can be intimidating, especially for someone coming from bass guitar. Together we'll embark in a fascinating journey to master this gorgeous instrument.
Improvisation
Music is a language. Surely we can learn it and perform it, but what´s the use of a language, if not to speak it? Together we'll learn how to use your technique and your knowledge to step out of your comfort zone, and take a joyous leap into the art of improvisation.
Groove and Basslines
As a bassist, you are the foundation of the sound of the band, the engine that powers its groove. We will learn from the giants of the past to understand how to make every song come to life.
Composition
Finally, we will start exploring the most exciting part of music. Making it. We will take a deep dive into your favourite artists, find your own personal voice and style. and let it grow into music that comes from you.
